Twyford Watchdog

Twyford Watchdog is a group set up to keep the Twyford community safe. We would love every resident of Twyford to be active in our community. All residents are welcome to attend our meetings, ask questions, and suggests solutions for the problems we as a community face. The biggest issues that we’re hearing about at the moment are rubbish dumping and boy-racers, so this is where community meetings and our cameras come in. On the ‘News & Events’ page we will be announcing meetings, AGMs and community get-togethers so that you can have your say.

Cameras
We have placed cameras at every entrance to Twyford and the footage is regularly reviewed by our Rural & Prevention Officer, Greg Andrew. These cameras cost money to buy and maintain, which is why members of the Twyford community are respectfully asked to join our group and pay a small fee to help offset costs. The good part is that the more people who join, the less money each household pays. It’s a win-win situation! However, if people are unwilling to join our group and pay this small fee, we cannot help you if you experience crime and want the footage reviewed. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Several prosecutions have been made in the time the cameras have been installed, so everyone in Twyford benefits from having these cameras – just the fact that they’re there has deterred a lot of criminals from entering our neighbourhood already. Crime has increased 30% in Hastings CBD, but it has not increased in Twyford. Why? Twyford Watchdog security cameras, plus a great neighbourhood support network where everyone looks out for each other.

Note
Twyford Watchdog Committee members cannot view footage, for security reasons.
If you are wanting to report a crime or suspicious behaviour, please let Rural & Prevention Officer Greg Andrew or the Hastings Police know ASAP (contact details are on the ‘Contact’ page) with a date, approximate time, location, and description of the crime. Once we receive word from Greg we will then post the necessary information about it on the ‘News & Events’ page (plus send out an email to everyone in the email database) so we can all be aware. Greg has a lot of footage to look through, so the range needs to be as narrow as possible to allow him to find what he’s searching for.
Remember, crimes can’t be solved if you don’t report them!
